The project is funded by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the Central authority under the 1993 Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption, and is supported by the General Secretariat of the International Social Service in Switzerland. The project is being implemented in 8 pilot countries, including Bulgaria, which are countries of origin of children adopted in France who currently wish to obtain information about their biological parents in their country of origin and possibly meet and maintain contact with them.
The project is aiming at raising awareness amongst the public and the professional communities of psychologists, social workers, family therapists and lawyers about the right of every adopted person to seek and receive information about his biological origin; capacity building of professionals in providing support services to adopted persons on their journey to find their biological family; tailored support services to adoptees and their biological parents in Bulgaria.
